Workshop Description: 2-Fabric Portraiture
In this 3 Hour hands-on workshop, Leo will guide students through the process of creating a portrait of animal, flowers, and people using only two fabrics.
One fabric should be light in color and the other dark.
Learn Leo's intermediate but approachable techniques to create a unique portrait.
Students will walk away with a technique and understanding of how to create a simple, but artsy piece using layering and collage techniques.
This is a no sew workshop.
Class Fee: $30.00 members/$45.00 Non-Members
Required Supplies:
- 2-4 fabrics or fat quarters which should be from light to dark (no medium or large print fabrics. Use small prints, tone on tone or solids. Fabrics should read as a solid from 3 feet away) *Student will only use 2 of the 4 pieces for class. 4 pieces is to give the student more options in their color selection.
- 2/3 yards of Heat N Bond Lite, Wonder Under or double-sided fusible of your choice (Please no fusible without paper side and no Steam-A-Seam. It makes the project too thick to quilt)
- Small Pointed Tip Scissors (Leo uses Kai N5000 series with a curved tip)
- Fine Point Sharpie or Ink Pen
- Straight Pins
- Small Foam Core Board (that will accommodate an 11"x14" project and will double as an ironing surface for your project)
*Pattern (Supplied by the instructor with dozens to choose from such as people, animals and flowers)
Prep Requirements: Students can cut their fusible into 12"x17" pieces (you will have 2 pieces and the 2nd one is for backup in case glue dissipates or student decides to change the color of their fabric. You can bring rolled up to class to keep it protected.
